About Duncan Institute
Duncan Institute was established with the goal to support the art of contemporary dance and contemporary Czech classical music. It also aims to promote the specific qualities of these art forms and to introduce them to experts and to the general public primarily in Prague and in the Czech Republic, but also abroad.
We consider dance a way of life that is based on the holistic understanding of human beings. Knowing that dance awakens our dulled senses, arouses the repressed ancient instincts, heals our body and mind, boosts our positive outlook, explores the deepest hidden corners of our body and soul, and brings many more benefits, all of this leads us to believe that dance transforms the quality of life.
Therefore, dance is not a practical affair to us, it is a question of values. That is what matters.
The Duncan Institute is an umbrella organisation for:
- Society for Dance and Artistic Education, z.s. (registered association)
- New Europe Festival – Jarmila Jeřábková Award, z.s.
- Studio – Contemporary dance training in accordance with the Duncan Method (for children, teenagers and adults)
